The Optimist Club of the Wisconsin Heights/Black Earth District awarded two Volunteer of the Year Awards to Steve and Lisa Flogel. They were chosen due to their selfless acts of giving to the community of Mazomanie damaged by the August flood of 2018. Steve and Lisa Flogel played a huge part in helping the community of Mazamonie organize a crew of certified electricians to go house to house and replace damaged electrical panels free of charge. Steve thought that it would be better to have the panels done correctly that to have someone cobble a job because of lack of funds. He estimated that they did $50,000 of work at no cost. As the days went by, quite a few parties stepped forward to help cover the costs. Both Steve and Lisa found the experience very rewarding. Lisa helped turn their home into a 'ground zero' where she and their sons welcomed tired people, offering them a place to wash up, shower if needed, and eat-free of charge. A big Thank you to the Flogel family! Pictured left to right is Brennyn, Steve, Lisa, Karsten and Hansen Flogel.
