More people died last weekend in mass shootings.

Since 1966, 1,196 people have been killed in 165 mass shootings. In the 50 years prior to 1966, there were 25 mass shootings. For the sobering data, see “Mass Shootings in America,” by the Washington Post, and “US Mass Shootings, 1982-2019: Data From Mother Jones’ Investigation,” at Mother Jones.

There are measures that can stop this. People have been trying to stop the carnage, but they’re being stymied in their efforts. It’s time to hold those accountable who are allowing this to happen.
