Middleton resident on front lines of asylum process

What level, and type, of abuse and fear qualify as enough to clear the first government hurdle on the road to being granted asylum immigrant status in the United States? Middleton resident Charis Zimmick, 27, found disturbing answers to this question last August, when she volunteered at a U.S. detention center near the border of Texas and Mexico.
