Sauk Prairie Optimist Club hears about chamber's work with schools

On June 5, Tywana German, Executive Director of the Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce spoke to the Sauk Prairie Optimist Club about the Chamber's work with the public schools. Some of the projects its it carries out are fourth grade community talks, the Sauk Prairie Empowerment Project, the Day of Service Program with Sauk Prairie High School, Career Day at Sauk Prairie Middle School and a Career Expo at SPHS. She told about Joel Chrisler's class at the HS entitled Consumer Economics that covers such topics as First Impressions with a potential employer, Resume Review, On-line Check (What is out there on social media about you?), doing an Elevator Speech and Interviewing Skills. She also takes about the financial literacy unit taught in this class ranging from corporate partners in the community such as banks, local financial advisors and more, understanding paychecks (withholdings, health care and more) and the importance of budgeting. Also speaking was Krytel Carolina from Ecuador who shared her transition to Wisconsin and the important changes in her life.
