Cop resigns after trying to tase fellow officer

Sergeant Jamie Wepking, an 18 year veteran of the Sauk Prairie police department, resigned in early November of last year after he allegedly removed an on-duty officer’s taser and shot it at him. According to Police Chief Jerry Strunz, alcohol was involved with Wepking’s actions

In the early morning hours of October 28, Wepking was off duty and attending a Halloween party in Prairie du Sac. An acquaintance of Wepking asked one of the on-duty officers to purchase chewing tobacco for Wepking. Plans were made for Wepking to meet the officer at Mid-State Equipment, which is located outside...
