Rainer Maria Rilke, who wrote the above, certainly knew how to celebrate spring. It's difficult to believe that 3 months ago it was 110 degrees colder. But as temperatures consistently rise into the 70's, the long, cold, winter is behind us. Spring is showing itself in full bloom, the trees are finally starting to green, and hummingbirds and orioles are showing their bright plumage. Area pools are opening and festival season is just around the corner. Last year, Maozmanie's Lake Marion was empty, as it had been for years. Pictured at top, it's now filled with crystal clear water. Above, the fields along Racek Road are finally showing signs of life.
