Heights track teams compete at Lakeside Lutheran

Wisconsin Heights’ boys and girls track teams competed at a Capitol Conference Quad held at Lakeside Lutheran last Tuesday.

On the boys side, Connor Murphy was second in the 100 (11.4), third in the long jump (19-1) and fourth in the high jump (5-4). Freshman Matthew Russell was third in the shot put (36-8 ¾) and fourth in the discus (94-7).

Zach Bauman was third in the 1,600 (4:58.17) and fifth in the 800 (2:15.24).

The Vanguards’ 800-meter relay team of Aaron Meier, Braden Ripp, Gibson Heathcote and Jack Haugen was third.

On the girls’ side, Lorisa Shatrawka was second in the 200 (28.39) and fifth in the 100 (13.90). Greine Simmert was also fourth in the 200 (29.12).

Renee Caminiti was second in the 1,600 (5:59.12) and fifth in the 800 (2:53.03). Kylee Doherty was fourth in the shot put (29-0)

The quartet of Shatrawka, Simmert, Madilyn Behnke and Morgan Schult was fourth.

BASEBALL

Lodi defeated Wisconsin Heights’ baseball team, 8-2, last Tuesday.

Vanguards’ starter Dane Louis allowed five runs (three earned) in 3 1/3 innings and took the loss.

Heights managed just four hits. Caden Eichorst went 2-for-3 with a run scored and Jack Holcom was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Devin Brabender also scored a run for the Vanguards.

• On deck: Heights hosted Belleville Tuesday, then hosts Cambridge Thursday at 5 p.m. The Vanguards then host Waterloo Friday at 5 p.m., and are at Madison Edgewood Saturday at 11 a.m.
