Sauk City and Ruth Culver libraries go fine-free, following nationwide trend

March 28, 2019

As of March 1, 2019, both the Sauk City Public Library and the Ruth Culver Public Library are now fine free.

“The Sauk City Library decided to go fine free in order to be more welcoming and accessible to all residents,” said Emily Judd, director of the Sauk City Public Library. “Overdue fines deter many from using the library and more heavily affect lower-income families and children. We’re hoping those who have stayed away from the library because of fines will come back to us because we want the library experience to be positive. We’re not here to make people feel guilty.”
