On March 13, Alison (Allie) Breunig, daughter of Mary and Mike Breunig, was honored as the SP Optimist Student of the Month for February (postponed due to weather challenges). Allie was nominated by Troy Talford, her FFA advisor. Talford had this to say about her, "There have only been a few times that as FFA Advisor I have nominated someone other than officers...This nomination is an exception to my standing rule. My reason is simple: Allie should have been an officer! If you ask her though, she would question her leadership capabilities and say that she wouldn't be good at that. Truth is, I have given her a ton of random tasks and she will always say "sure" and have a smile on her face...I don't know if you will find another student in our building as service-minded as Allie. Any time we have any kind of community service activity, she is right there willing and able to help. Allie also serves as a Cadet for the Sauk City Fire Department and is in training to become a certified firefighter. The significance of this is, no matter what hour of the night, Allie is fully committed to ensuring the safety of others in our community. Just the other day, she mentioned how she was up until 4 a.m. on an emergency call. While others would have taken a sick day and caught up on sleep, she persevered and made it to school all day..." Allie has also been wrestling manager for three years and an assistant dance teacher at KP Dance for six years. She plans on attending Madison College to attain her EMT license.
