Sauk City votes 6-1 to rename Derleth Park

Residents overwhelmingly disapprove, August Derleth Society calls name change "incongruous and perplexing", village makes no official statement after questions arise

Update: Sauk City Village officials and the Star News will be meeting Thursday.

August Derleth Park in Sauk City is getting a new name. "Sauk City Riverfront Park" was approved by the Sauk City Village Board in a 6-1 vote during the March 12 board meeting. Abigail Strunz, the board's newest member was the lone nay.

The name change is part of a larger improvement project at the park.

"The Ordinance was brought up to change the name of the park to coincidence with the fact that this is going to be a riverside park with all the amenities for soccer, splash pad, zipline and playground," said...
