Rev. Bill Harris, right, founder of the People Helping People (PHP) organization located in Baraboo, spoke to the Sauk Prairie Optimist Club on February 6. Harris was invited to speak by Dick McFarlane, left, February Optimist speaker chair. Founded in 1998, PHP is a faith-based, non-profit charity whose mission is to strengthen the community by giving direct help to low-income families and disadvantaged job-seekers. Some of the PHP programs include the Adopt-a-Family, the Stomp Out Hunger, the Adopt-a-Soldier, the School Supply and the Work Ready programs. PHP volunteers conduct nearly two dozen brat fries and other fundraisers each year including their Spring Jubilee, Golf Outing, and Stomp Out Hunger Food Drive. For further information on volunteering or working with PHP call 608-434-0002 or email php123@centurylink.net.
