Grand Avenue students compete in spelling bee, winners move on to regionals

Twenty-six students from 4th and 5th grades competed in their annual spelling bee on Friday, January 25th. These students did a fantastic job and all should be proud of their accomplishments and participation in the bee. The top seven spellers – Ella Stephan, Lila Shadewald, Calvin Bolton, Liesl Judge, Mallory Hartwig, Brooke Heinz and Elliott Steiner – will attend the Regional Spelling Bee on Tuesday, February 5th at the Portage High School Auditorium. Congratulations students on a great job! Some of the words were blathering, solution, stalks, cue, monopoly, procession, achieve, tuneful, shrewd, hilarious, rickety, gangplank, volley, cliques, coiled and suffocate.
