Black Earth seeks water rate increase

The village of Black Earth has gone 12 years without a significant water rate increase but it’s in line for another one now.

The rate application the village filed with the Public Service Commission on Feb. 4 seeks rates that would boost revenue 60.75 percent.

Average residential customers currently pay $17.40 monthly for 3,000 gallons of water, said Village Clerk/Treasurer Shellie Benish. If the PSC approves the requested rates it would increase monthly water bills by about $10.44 boosting them to $27.84
