Hunter education class in Mazo

A hunter education class sponsored by the Wisconsin River Sportsmen’s Club will be offered in March.

The class will start with registration on March 5 at 6 p.m. Classes will take place at the club’s clubhouse at 10041 CTH Y, near the Highway Y boat landing in the Town of Mazomanie.

Students taking the class are required to obtain a DNR customer number. Numbers can be obtained by calling 1-888-936-7463 or visiting a DNR service center. In addition, there is a $10 course fee, payable at registration.

The class will be limited to 30 students. Students wanting to sign up to guarantee a seat can do so by calling Marlon Schoenemann at 212-0111.

The course will take place over 2 weeks and include four week-night classes on March 12, 15, 19 and 22 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and two Saturday classes on March 17 and 24. The Saturday classes will be from 8 a.m. to noon.

The course consists of nine chapters of study material, warden briefing, tree stand safety, a .22 shoot and field test, a written test, lunch, distribution of certificates and a trap shoot.
