Black Earth's Michelsons'-Martin American Legion celebrates 98th anniversary

2019 is the 100th anniversary of the American Legion. It was chartered by Congress to focus on service to veterans, service members, and communities. There are currently over 2 million members in over 13,000 posts worldwide. There are posts in all 50 states, along with the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico, and the Philippines.

In Black Earth, the Mickelsons'-Martin Post 313 is celebrating its 98th anniversary. It was formed on January 14, 1921. The post is named for three men from the Black Earth area, Florian E. Martin, Clarence Mickelson, and Herman Mickelson, who were ki...
