On January 8, 2019 the Sauk Prairie Optimist Club is joining with Optimist International to celebrate their 100th year of service. Optimist Clubs around the nation and world have been bringing out the best in our youth, our communities and ourselves for a century. Countless lives have been positively influenced over this time because of their service. To celebrate, the Sauk Prairie Optimists worked on a special project for the Sauk Prairie Schools elementary students. To draw attention to the power of Optimism the Club began a waterproof glove, boot, coat and hat drive for the youngest students. Without adequate recess outerwear, children in 4K to 5th are not able to enjoy recess winter fun. Optimists placed bins for collection of new or lightly used gloves, boots, coats, hats and scarves in 3 locations; Sauk Prairie Market, Piggly Wiggly and McFarlanes. The drive was a great success and many loads were delivered to Susan Baumann-Duren, the School Districts AODA Coordinator and Social Worker who will distribute them to our elementary schools. Now no student will have to stay inside and miss the fun! Thank you to all who helped make this a success.
