Lake Marion holding water, Mazo eyes electric rate increase

Mazomanie residents who had a lake on their holiday wish list can rejoice: Lake Marion is holding water.

The public works department started pumping water into the finished lake in November, and so far the newly installed liner seems to be working. Public Works Director Mark Geisler said twenty-four hours after he stopped the pump, the lake level had not gone down.

“That’s as good a Christmas present as any of us are going to get,” Village President Gary Harrop said at the Dec. 11 village board meeting.

“And we’ve been waiting ten years for it,” added Village Trustee Les Sanders...
