Mazomanie passes budget, waits for new construction to offset flood losses

The Village of Mazomanie approved a lean budget at its Nov. 27 meeting, whittling thousands from proposed expenditures to bring it under the levy limit.

Homeowners will see a mill rate increase of just over 2 percent, which will mean paying about $14 more for the village portion of property taxes for each $100,000 in property value.

The village board’s finance committee had to cut $220,000 after receiving proposals from each department, including about $80,000 from what public works requested, according to Village Administrator Peter Huebner.
