Lame-duck Republican bills on Governor's desk

Wisconsin lawmakers were called back into session last week, planning to take a vote on whether the state should give tax credits to paper giant Kimberly-Clark. Republicans took the opportunity to present a lame duck package of bills, which would limit the power of Governor Elect Tony Evers and incoming state Attorney General Josh Kaul.

After Republicans met in private late on Tuesday afternoon to hash out the details of the bills, an all-night session ensued on Dec. 4-5. In spite of citizens filling the statehouse in protest, the bills passed. They now await Gov. Scott Walker’s signature...
