Town of Merrimac passes $532,000 budget, mill rate increases 1 cent

Residents in the Town of Merrimac won’t see much of a tax increase next year.

The town board approved the $532,807 budget last week with a mill rate of 89 cents per $1,000 of equalized property value. It went up 1 cent from the 2018 budget.

Expenses and revenue are expected to be equal in 2019, according to budget documents.

The 2018 budget may have been lower at $505,201, but revenue is expected to be higher next year, hence the reason why taxpayers will barely notice a change on their bills.
