Heights spikers earn top seed

Amy Schlimgen was surprised.

Pleasantly surprised, that is.

Schlimgen, the girls’ volleyball coach at Wisconsin Heights, went to her postseason seeding meeting last week expecting a battle for the No. 1 seed on one half of the sectional. Instead, most of the other coaches also believed Heights deserved the top seed and voted as such.

Not only did Heights receive the No. 1 seed, it earned a first round bye. The Vanguards begin the postseason Thursday when they host either eighth-seeded Parkview or ninth-seeded Mineral Point in a WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal.
