Mazo Area Flood Assistance Fund tops $100,000

October 11, 2018

The Mazomanie Area Flood Assistance Fund was established in response to the flooding that took place on August 21 and which left many property owners without insurance coverage for damages sustained. The balance of the Fund now exceeds $100,000 and donations continue to arrive daily.

Applications for assistance are now available, and will be accepted, at the Mazomanie Village Office, 133 Crescent St., P. O. Box 26, Mazomanie 53560 and at The Peoples Community Bank, 222 W. Commercial St., P. O. Box 8, Mazomanie 53560 until October 31, 2018. Both printable PDF and an online application can also be found at http://www.thepeoplescommunitybank.com.

Applications submitted will be reviewed by out-of-area third parties who will make recommendations for grant amounts to a local committee consisting of village and township residents Tammy Adler, Mark Geisler, Dale Green, Mary Beth Hall, Gary Harrop, Sherry Moyer and Jim Wick. The local committee will then review those recommendations for reasonableness and proceeds from the fund will be distributed based on need. The amount of each grant awarded will depend on the number of requests received, the level of loss documented and the amount of money raised by the Fund.
