Proud of Mazo’s flooding efforts

Dear editor,

My name is Kim Brunner. My husband, Bob, and I were in Mazo today, Saturday, August 25th, to help my grandparents, Roy and Janet Carley, with the flooding they had in their basement and garage. We were there about 10 hours, and, in those hours, we witnessed an amazing amount of people helping each other. As we brought stuff up and out of the house, and to the curb... all day long, someone wasn’t far behind with a bobcat or garbage truck We probably filled the curb 10 times and 10 times, someone just came and picked it up. Someone was walking around and handing out flyers, reminding everyone to come to the school and get something to eat. People walking down the street and just stopping to ask if we needed any help. Wow. It made a tough day much easier. Grateful and awed. My grandparents have lived in Mazo for 63 years, in the same home. They are proud to be there, and we can see why. Mazo, you rock! Thank you to all those that helped. You are true heroes.

Kim Brunner
