Did you know that there are more than 100 barn quilts in Sauk County?! Photographs of the thirty-nine barn quilts located in the Sauk Prairie area will be displayed in an exhibit at the River Arts Center (105-9th Street, Prairie du Sac) from September 4th-November 20th. A free, public reception will take place on Thursday, September 6 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. with catering by Maria van Cleve. Stories of the quilts will accompany photos (taken by Ron Kindschi), and tour brochures will be available for people to experience the barn quilts in person in self-guided tours. Also featured in the lobby will be various sizes of actual barn quilts created by Carol Wilhelm and available for sale. The River Arts Center Gallery is free and open to the public on school days Monday through Friday from 8am–8pm or by appointment. Please visit www.RiverArtsInc.Org for the latest information or call 608-643-5215. Sauk Prairie Barn Quilts is supported in part by a grant from the Sauk County UW Extension, Arts, & Culture Committee and Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. It is through a collaborative process between the Sauk Prairie Chamber, FFA Alumni, and River Arts Inc.
