Badger cleanup meeting on September 13th

Gruber's Grove Bay, diffuser structure, sludge bed on agenda

August 16, 2018

Dear Neighbors,

The Army is proposing to hold a public meeting of the Badger Restoration Advisory Board on Thursday, September 13 from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. in the gallery at the Sauk Prairie School District’s River Arts Center, 105 Ninth Street, Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin 53578. We received feedback after the last meeting that this was a good venue and, unless we receive any complaints, we will attempt to reserve this area for most of our future meetings. A notice of the meeting will be published in local papers.

At the September meeting we propose to provide, if available, information on the supplemental investigations and studies, risk assessment, and groundwater monitoring, and address the feedback received at the May meeting. If the documents are not completed, or we have time on the agenda, we propose to add other items suggested by the public. The list of suggested items includes:

· Gruber’s Grove Bay sampling results and the proposed way ahead,

· The diffuser structure and pipeline to Lake Wisconsin,

· Sludge bed concerns, and

· Regulatory authorities.

We will provide the final agenda two weeks prior to the meeting.

To allow more time to present and discuss restoration activities, we are coordinating input and feedback on the meeting minutes and Community Involvement Plan (CIP) via email and telephone. If you would like a copy, it can be obtained in any of four ways:

· Website: or

· Email:

· Phone: 210-466-1590

· Mail: U.S. Army Environmental Command

2450 Connell Road, Bldg. 2264, Room 107

Fort Sam Houston, TX 78234

If you have suggestions or other topics you’d like added to this or future agendas, please email or call 210-466-1590.

We hope to hold additional meetings in late October and possibly again in November, pending defense budget approvals. At those meetings we will provide updates on the cleanup program and information on topics suggested by the public.

We hope to see you at the September meeting. Feel free to submit any questions you have between meetings to If you don’t receive a response to your email within 1 week, please call us at 210-466-1590. We want to ensure we are receiving everyone’s email.

Thank you,

Badger AAP Cleanup Team
