Sauk Prairie FFA earns gold rating

The Sauk Prairie FFA was named as one of only 25 chapters in the State of Wisconsin to earn a Gold Rating in the National Chapter Award Program. Along with this, they were named fifth place in the "Growing Leaders" division for their excellence in leadership development activities for its members. These awards were announced at the conclusion of the 89th Wisconsin FFA Convention with the 32 Sauk Prairie FFA members in attendance. This year the Sauk prairie FFA had seven individuals earn their State FFA Degrees, the highest degree that Wisconsin can bestow upon a FFA member. Those recipients were Sarah Albers, Bailey Gieck, Kursha Baier, Emma Orr, Edwin Schott, Abe Rothmann, and Dylan Herbrand. Edwin Schott was also named a Star in Agricultural Placement State Finalist for his work with his Supervised Agricultural Experience project while Sarah Albers earned 4th place in the Star Farmer division. Sarah Albers was a recipient of the Three Star Leadership Award, which is given to those individuals who have excelled in the areas of student development, chapter development, and community development. Sauk Prairie FFA received a blue ribbon on the chapter scrapbook, thank you to Olivia Davis and the Scrapbook Committee for all the hard work. Jared Mack, Sarah Albers, and Dylan Herbrand were all selected as recipients of Wisconsin FFA Foundation Scholarships for 2018. Mack received the Arnold & Katherine Cordes Endowment Scholarship, Albers received the Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association Scholarship, and Herbrand received Harold & Geneva Beals Endowment Scholarship. Mark Ladsten from the Sauk Prairie FFA Alumni was presented his Wisconsin FFA Honorary Degree for all of his work to assist with local FFA activities, but also for his time serving as the Wisconsin FFA Alumni State President this year. Speaking their way to success were Katie Yanke and Libby Hasheider. Katie participated in the Employment Skills Competition was named third in the state and Libby participated in the FFA Creed Speaking event and was named the State Winner. Libby now advances to the National Competition this October at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN. The Sauk Prairie FFA members continued it success this year by having 16 students earn a gold rating status for the State FFA Proficiency Awards program. Three students also received a silver rating. These awards recognize students work on a Supervised Agricultural Experience project outside of the classroom.
