Ballweg Chevrolet of Sauk City announced its $10,000 contribution to the Friends of the Great Sauk State Trail to support the group's campaign to fund construction of Phase II of the trail this summer.   The donation brings the total raised by the Friends group to $800,000 since it launched the fundraising effort last summer.  Contributions helped fund construction of Phase I through Sauk City and Prairie du Sac in the summer of 2017, will fund Phase II construction through the new Sauk Prairie Recreation Area, purchase amenities and safety enhancements along the full trail, and create a fund for long-term maintenance and trail promotion.  "The last dollars are often the hardest to raise," said Jeff Wright, president of the Friends group.  "We appreciate Ballweg of Sauk City and are grateful for the company's partnership.  This contribution brings us even closer to reaching our target." The Friends of the Great Sauk State Trail hope to raise another $39,000 to fully fund current projects.  Fundraising will continue to fund future trail expansion over the Wisconsin River and west of Devil's Lake State Park.  Pictured, from left to right: Brent Herbrand, Mitch Schmit, Brooke Fahey, Jeff Wright, Greg Mauch, Brandon Breunig, Darlene Ballweg, Chris Brodnicki, Will Anderson, Scott Pederson, Wendy Walsh, Matt Decker, Shawn Hannah, and Shawn Murphy.
