Lois (Barsness) Brunner

Lois (Barsness) Brunner passed away peacefully at Sauk Prairie Hospital on Nov. 25, 2017, surrounded by her family.

She was 89.  Lois was born on April 13, 1928 to the late Ralph and Hazel Barsness.  She was raised and attended school in Black Earth. On May 11, 1948 she married Edward Brunner and together they farmed, taking over the Brunner family farm in Town of Vermont in 1957.  They later sold the farm and moved to Mazomanie.

A kind hearted and giving soul, Lois found no greater joy in life than caring for her family. She especially cherished memories of the years on the farm with Ed, raising nine children. You would mostly find her in the kitchen, baking 20 loaves of bread each week, canning, preparing meals or baking. Lois was known for her cooking and baking skills; during fall harvest, when neighbor helped neighbor, the local farmers looked forward to harvesting the Brunner farm for they knew they would be served a delicious and plentiful feast.

Lois is survived by her children, Judy (Chuck) Amble, Mazomanie; Rita (Ric) Henn, Mazomanie; Dan (Sherry) Brunner, Oxford; Gordy (Ashley) Brunner, Town of Vermont; Debbie Brunner, Dodgeville; Cheryl (Jeff) Kitsemble, Mazomanie; Randy (Linda) Brunner, Town of Vermont. She is also survived by grandchildren, David, Angie, Aric, Kurt, Keith, DJ, Heather, Trevor, Katie, Brittnay, Erin, Stacey, Josh, Traci, Michael, Stefanie, Andrea, Emily, Kyle, Ashley, Scott, Travis, Ryan, Markus; many great grandchildren; and a sister, Donna Schultz.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Brunner; two sons, David and Rick Brunner; two sisters, Shirley Aeschlimann and Betty Rue; a brother, Marlin Barsness; and many other brothers and sisters-in law, each dearly loved.

A funeral service was scheduled to be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 at Vermont Lutheran Church, 9886 Vermont Church Rd., Black Earth.  A visitation was scheduled to be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 at Hooverson Funeral Home, Hwy 14 West, Mazomanie, and the morning of the service one hour prior to service time at the church.   A private interment will be held at St. Barnabas Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

You centered your world around your family, always caring more for our needs than your own. Even in the end your concern was to ease our sorrow by letting us know you were ready to go home and said... "I had a beautiful ending to my day."  Thank you for everything mom, we will miss you so.

Online condolences may be made at hooversonfuneralhomes.com.
