Ethan Cribbs and Wisconsin Heights' baseball team improved to 7-1 last week.

The beat goes on.

Wisconsin Heights' baseball team continued its terrific spring last week, winning three straight Southern Capitol Conference games. The Vanguards improved to 7-1 overall and are a perfect 6-0 in the conference.

Heights leads the league by 2 ½ games over second place New Glarus (3-2).

Here's a recap of the Vanguards' week:

Wisconsin Heights 4, Marshall 3 - The Vanguards rallied from a 3-0 deficit with two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh. Grady Geishirt worked 2 2/3 innings of relief and earned the win.

Trailing, 3-2, in the bottom of the seventh, Heights' Austin Wolfe drew a leadoff walk. But the next two Vanguards were retired and Wolfe could only advance to second.

But Ethan Cribbs, Peyton Flamme and Clayton Caminiti followed with walks to tie the game, 3-3, while leaving the bases loaded. Curtis Young then had an infield single that scored the game-winning run.

Young finished 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Flamme went 2-for-3.

Marshall took a 3-0 lead off of Heights starter Bryce Duhr in the first inning. But Duhr settled in and Geishirt finished in the Vanguards' impressive comeback.

• Heights 12, Cambridge 4 - The visiting Vanguards pounded out 13 hits and rolled past the Blue Jays last Tuesday.

Wolfe threw a solid game and picked up the win. Wolfe also finished 3-for-4, while Cribbs was 3-for-4, and both Duhr and Geishirt both had two hits.

Wisconsin Heights 6, New Glarus 1 - Geishirt threw a complete-game, three-hitter as the Vanguards rolled by the Glarner Knights. Geishirt also struck out seven and went 2-for-3 from the plate.
