Oakfield tops Heights

Oakfield may be as good as any 8-man football team in the state.

The Oaks are loaded on offense, play terrific defense and are ranked No. 2 in the state.

So even though Wisconsin Heights fell to Oakfield, 59-26, last Thursday, there were plenty of moral victories.

The Vanguards hung around much of the game, trailing 22-14 at halftime and 44-26 through three quarters. But Heights was trying to overcome a bevy of injuries, and eventually the Vanguards’ shortage of numbers was too much to overcome.

“We are a very banged up football team at the moment,” Heights coach Jeff Supernaw said. ...
